House of Birds, Light and Godiva (Glorieta Estates (15 min. from SF)) $125 3bd 1650sqft
This sunny, passive solar home in Glorieta Estates is a signature masterpiece consisting of both Old World charm and traditional New Mexican construction producing a pleasing blend of art and design. Among the uniquely notable features are the singular tile murals, stained glass, antique imported English cottage doors, hand planed beams and smooth diamond finished plaster walls. Fine details include granite counter tops, stainless steal appliances and brick and oak flooring.
A very private dwelling, this home sits high on a knoll surrounded by more than an acre of idyllic park-like property. Native grasses blow in the breeze and are dotted with Indian Paintbrush, Wild Lupine, Desert Sage, Barrel Cactus, Pinon, Juniper, large Ponderosa Pines and Scrub Oak. Right outside the house is a lawn, fruit trees and a perennial garden. The scenery is stunning with views of Rowe and Glorieta Mesas and surrounding Barrias Peak as far as you can see. This beauty can be enjoyed while sipping mint tea on the front deck or the back porch and listening to your favorite music on speakers which are wired to the living areas and bedrooms. Twittering birds flying about will make your enjoyment complete.
With this home's fine attention to detail and one-of-a-kind artistic value, you will find none other that gives you better value per square inch! Glorieta translates to "little heaven" and for this home, the term is most appropriate!

Activities and Attractions in Santa Fe New Mexico
You can have fun going between the outdoor offerings in the Pecos area and the state capital of New Mexico, Santa Fe. Close by, you will find the Pecos National Historical Park which provides museum and walking tours of the Pecos Pueblo's ruins, the Glorieta Battlefield of the Civil War and Greer Garson's Ranch House. Heading up the Pecos Canyon, visit the Lisboa Springs Fish Hatchery, swim at Pink Rock in the Dalton Fishing Area, fish the Pecos River (famous for its fly fishing), take a horse back ride at Terrero General store, or hike the beautiful trails in the Pecos Wilderness. In the other direction, you can zip into Santa Fe where you can check out the galleries on Canyon Road and the Plaza or spend an incredible evening at the world class Santa Fe Opera. There are also plenty of museums including The New Mexico Museum of Fine Arts, the Palace of the Governors, The Children's Museum, the Museum of New Mexico History, The Native American Museum, Georgia O'keefe Museum, and Museum Hill which includes the Folk Art Museum, Wheelwright Museum, the Museum of Spanish Colonial Arts, The Museum of Indian Art, and I think one other which I can't recall. Of course, you can go skiing at the Santa Fe Ski Basin or, for the more adventurous, to the Taos Ski Basin. Other activities include Gallery hopping and eating at restaurants too numerous to even list here, but guaranteed to satisfy even the hungriest and most discriminating of tastes. It's fun to check out the second hand shops and Antique stores along Cerrillos Road which are popping up to support all kinds of causes and private enterprises. Start at Double Take on Guadalupe, one on the left right after Whole Foods, Recollections, the Junk Monkeys, St. Vincent's De Paul's off Early Street, Habitat for Humanity, the Salvation Army off Camino Carlos Rey, Good Will, Back on the Rack off Siler and finally the Santa Fe Humane Society Thrift Store (where they spay and neuter) all the way down Cerrillos (call for directions). You can find a treasure to reuse and maybe support a local non-profit at the same time. WHAT FUN! North on I-25, Las Vegas, NM has more to offer with it's Victorian style architecture, the Armand Hammer World College with it's natural hot springs which I think are still free (although very natural and rustic)!
